    Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our horse riding lessons for children

We offer lessons for children as young as 5 years old. For younger riders (5-7), we focus on basic skills, balance, and confidence building with our specially trained ponies. Children 8 and older begin more structured riding programs.

Children should wear long pants or jodhpurs, closed-toe boots with a small heel, and an approved riding helmet (we provide helmets if you don’t have one). Comfortable layers are recommended as weather can change, and gloves are suggested in colder months.

Standard lessons are 45 minutes for beginners and 60 minutes for intermediate and advanced riders. We recommend weekly lessons for consistent progress, but offer flexible scheduling options. Many parents find that regular weekly sessions help children build confidence and skills more effectively.

Parents are welcome to observe lessons from our designated viewing area. For very young riders, parents may be asked to assist initially. We find that children often gain independence more quickly when parents observe from a distance, allowing instructors to build rapport with the children.
